Welcome to the Virtual Indian Media Resource Center! In order to build or repair your dream machine a little knowledge helps. A lot helps even more! Please assist your webmaster by picking a book or tape you have enjoyed and providing information that will help others make their purchase decision. Reviews to supplement or supplant the sketchy information initially provided here are also solicited (see here for an example). Thanks!

-Oh, another thing about the reviews... Just because a book wes read and reviewed by someone here doesn't mean that you shouldn't post yours! In particular if you disagree with the first reviewer. The purpose of the reviews is to help others figure out if a book is what they are looking for. It happens that there's a couple of these 'disagreement' reviews this month. Look for the little New! tag below.

Videos  History & Picture Books   Some Manuals Catalogs    Older Books   Music!   General Info   Periodicals Feedback Form  (Use these links to go to the section of your choice & the "back to top" links to get back here. Saves you from getting lost in this pretty long (& growing!) page. Just a suggestion!)

VI has entered an "associate" deal with Amazon.com, which pays us a small percentage of the price (which is often quite low at Amazon! hint, hint...) of every book, CD etc bought by clicking on the Amazon logo to the right of here. It takes a ton of books for this to amount to much, but as there are certain expenses connected with running the VI, every little bit helps.

So if you're going to buy a book anyway, and want to support the VI, you can do so by clicking the Amazon logo. Thanks!

New this month: Review of Harry Sucher's "Iron Redskin", Hatfield's "Illustrated Buyers' Guide" and Rafferty's "The Indian".

Also new is Amazon links next to some of the books. Not only can you buy any one of them with a click or two if the mood suddenly overcomes you :-) but you there are also often good reviews of the books at Amazon.

Use this link (click on amazon.com logo) for checking out books, CDs etc which don't have a direct link
(-use the direct links below if there is one by the book you are interested in)

Indian 4 Experience
By: Max Bubeck & Larry Struck
This one is great if you are ready to tear apart your four cylinder or if you are a die hard machine head. Otherwise it feels a little slow. But if you are ever going to take on a four, you may as well get this 2 tape set now.

Some Manuals:

The way I use the Indian Literature is to open a book to the parts for the assembly I am interested in and then compare it with other manuals and as many photos as I can find in the current crop of picture books. This is not as satisfactory as seeing someone else’s bike, but I have not yet met a lot of 1940 Sport Scout owners in my immediate area!

Motorcycles and Side Cars. Constructon, Management, Repair

General Information:

"1905 to 1985 Motorcycle Price Guide"
Mid America has published the "1905 to 1985 Motorcycle Price Guide" since 1996, and although no price guide is dead on accurate, theirs is pretty close to reality. The 1999 (4th) edition has 224 pages, and carries values for several grades, and over 100 makes. There is a lot more information in the book, than just pricing, but I have seen several postings from people, asking what a particular model is worth, and this book would help with rough values. I don't know if the 5th edition is out yet, but it can be ordered from Mid America (800) 473-2324 for $23.20 with postage included. Stan

Indian Music!

I couldn't resist posting this link. www.tt.net/atomic/solberg.html It features a cd cover of soon-to-be famed  (we hope) Indian Chief replacement crankcase manufacturer, James Solberg (in the hat) and his buddy, Charlie Bingham atop their prides and joys. Pat Fitzgerald  (see this "New Parts" page for crankcases. Moen)

Here is the link to the guy who did the soundtrack to Indian Summer (Ned Farr) www.nedfarr.com/. Jim
